Notes from 1999: Caraoke Queen

This is the 101th song sung by the Karaoke Queen and people
put on ear plugs to carry on life; this time, she and her choir
are having difficulties with a newcomer who has been outrunning
the previous group with flying colors and heeds none of the subtle
notes from the green-eyed Karaoke Queen, who usually dominates the
microphone.

A whispering campaign goes off first. Malicious rumors circulate
in the air like a contagious disease. Orders have been issued
through the Visible network. Soft methods as well as hard ones are
being used to reinforce the Queen's decree: Anyone aligns him/herself
with this marked person are banished from the club and privileges -
free snacks and, at lest, non-aggressive policy from the Queen and
her ubiquitous choir.

Seeing no one heels her high-decibel singing, the Queen introduces
her male escorts this afternoon; with such a display of prowess and
hard-core diplomacy, she is really something to reckon with.

A winner's attitude, adroit maneuvering of human nature and seemingly endless ideas turn the limelight back to the Karaoke Queen. The isolation order meets no apparent opposition, teachers have been bent to her will with her threatening to bring away her flock if she doesn't get her way.

Gee! Feeling frustrated in your job? Take a singing lesson from the Karaoke Queen.
