Notes from 1999: Caraoke Queen

This is the 101th song sung by the Karaoke Queen and people
put on ear plugs to carry on life; this time, she and her choir
are having difficulties with a newcomer who has been outrunning
the previous group with flying colors and heeds none of the subtle
notes from the green-eyed Karaoke Queen, who usually dominates the
microphone.

A whispering campaign goes off first. Malicious rumors circulate
in the air like a contagious disease. Orders have been issued
through the Visible network. Soft methods as well as hard ones are
being used to reinforce the Queen's decree: Anyone aligns him/herself
with this marked person are banished from the club and privileges -
free snacks and, at lest, non-aggressive policy from the Queen and
her ubiquitous choir.

Seeing no one heels her high-decibel singing, the Queen introduces
her male escorts this afternoon; with such a display of prowess and
hard-core diplomacy, she is really something to reckon with.

A winner's attitude, adroit maneuvering of human nature and seemingly endless ideas turn the limelight back to the Karaoke Queen. The isolation order meets no apparent opposition, teachers have been bent to her will with her threatening to bring away her flock if she doesn't get her way.

Gee! Feeling frustrated in your job? Take a singing lesson from the Karaoke Queen.

Notes from 1999: He had a Vietnamese bride

He had a Viet bride,
Mailed across the sea,
In front of his eye,
For others to see,
How handsome he might;

He had a Viet bride,
Pretty, young and mute,
In front of all eyes,
For others and me,
She was not light;

He had a Viet ride,
Begging for trip home,
In front of his eye,
For others and me,
Her tear was not right;

"Be a loyal bride!
Filial as you might,
To the cuckoo white,"
Scorned the Cuneiform;

"Loyal and filial I should be,
Diamond inside rusted already;
Stranger I should be,
To you and me,"
Crid the black bride;

"Cry no more,
You're in the promised paradise."

"Keep away from me,
One thousand and a mile,
I flew to see,
A shabby hut,
In the golden land,
And you, a rotten meat.

Where, where is the Blue bird,
Once in my green page?
Why, why is the puring,
Under the cage?"

"Cry no more,
Traitor to the Blue bird
You abandoned freedom,
For a handsome ransom;
Now a prim and proper lady,
Perched in self-gilted cage."

"Bring no more story,
Blue bird is calling to me.
Sky open high and wide,
For a heart high and wild."

He had a poor creature,
Locked in a picture,
In front of his eye,
And for others to see,
Soon he would have a new seed.

Day and night she cried,
The pretty Viet bride.
Didn't you mind,
Her black face was white,
From the benign cyanide.

"Oh, poison, treason and freedom,
Why do they sound much the same?
Why do they sound much the same?
Oh, poison, treason and freedom!"

Notes from 1999: No Respector of Property

Tonight we're short of electricity,
Total dark brings,
To you and me,
The beauty long no see.

Tonight moonlight announces to all,
There is a pajama ball,
And friends phone to call,
For it's not too late at all.

Tonight we're short of TV,
Hearts turns on to family,
The favorite channel,
For all to keep.

Tonight is the night,
Bring out the candlelight,
And see how the Fire Fly,
Lights up the sky.

Tonight the moonlight,
Is a delight,
If you happen to be,
Free from a city abright.

Tonight we're short of electricity,
Here by returns the simplicity,
Long lost in modern complexity,
Oh...rrrrr....Hello Kitty :>

Amber light soft and bright,
Wish she there always be,
Shines upon you and me,
No respect of property.

Notes from 1999: Acne, My Agony

Now reached its acme,
Making me extremely funny,
Like an agg smashed on me.
Bonney wouldn't be happy,
'cause face is where she watch constantly.

Acne, my agony;
Now she may flinch,
And turn away from me,
Simply I no more a match,
To light up her beauty.

You see,
Beauty is the treaty,
Binding you and me.
If you have an acne,
You'll understand my agony.

Notes from 1999: Happy Father's Day

Sometimes I wonder,
How could one be,
So resigned to a harsh fate,
Dear God designed;
Please do not deny,
You faithful knight,
Tending the family,
Day and night,
Rain or shine.

From Breakfast to Dinner,
You're a serving tomato,
Making us a healthy tomorrow.
From Monday to Sunday,
You're a superman Dad,
meeting every inconsiderate demand;
From Spring to Winter,
You're the ultimate talisman,
Warding off omen and ailment.

Time has no respect,
For diligent parents,
Gray hair and wrinkles
Now are so apparent.

Though sometimes,
You're Quixotic Knight,
Always and forever,
A certain paradigm remain;
Here and now is a vow,
A pompous son I shall resign,
And a diligent apprentice now;
Today, no commercial today,
Please listen to the accolade:
"Happy Father's Day!"

* 2008-11-03
* 中國時報
* 【蔡英文】

Sunshine state - Day Job

Where'd the weekend go I say to Steve, as the elevator opens on the seventh floor of hell. Searching for coffee now I'm half awake start to wander through my e-mail getting cozy in my cell. One two three four five more hours, crush my soul and send me flours, take me home where I can be myself again, someday (somedayyyy) one day I'll sleep in till noon, and stay up late, live the life I want I know, one day (one dayyyyyy) I'll leave this dark grey cubical behind and the rent could still get paid.

(Aaaaaahhhhhhhh...)Try to be different wore striped socks today think that everybody noticed, heard them talking in the hall (la la la laaaaaa...), you know there's muffins on Todd's desk, well I better hurry now and get one, guess I'll have to miss that call (oh well). One two three four five more hours, sing my love songs in the shower, brush my teeth try to plan my get-away, someday (somedayyyy) one day I'll sleep in till noon, and stay up late, live the life I want I know, one day (one dayyyyyy) I'll leave this dark grey cubical behind if the rent could still get paid.

The dental plan serves me well, I love my erganomic chair, steady pay, they never seem to say, I've been wastin' too much time, I don't wanna be there. Someday (somedayyyyy) Monday I'll sleep in till noon, and stay up late, and live the life I want because, one day (one dayyyy) I'll leave this dark grey cubical behind things are gonna be different. Someday (somedayyyyy) Monday I'll sleep in till noon, and stay up late, and live the... live the life I want, one day (one dayyyyy) I'll kiss this dark grey cubical goodbye, goodbye, goodbye and the rent would still get paid.
